The Asia Garment Hub is a digital one-stop-shop tailored to the garment and textiles sector in Asia, viewed through a lens of Decent Work and Sustainability. A joint initiative of the GIZ’s regional project FABRIC and the ILO’s Decent Work in Garment Supply Chains Asia project, the platform provides high-quality resources from leading industry organizations and respected voices, bringing together manufacturers, brands, worker and employer organizations, civil society, and multi-stakeholder initiatives.
The platform connects diverse stakeholders and showcases knowledge from across the global supply chain. Its mission is to inform, educate, and spur action to address critical challenges and to drive real industry change. We were tasked to design an identity that would reflect the platform's mission.
The identity system centers around the symbol, constructed out of 48 intersecting threads forming a central hub, these threads represent the 48 countries in Asia today. This symbol is a literal visual manifestation of the platform's mission to bring change to the garment industry within Asia. The new vibrant color and typography system highlights the platform's inclusiveness.
The angles of the individual threads within the symbol can be used to create dynamic compositions for print and digital collaterals. We also created a suite of iconography to represent key information points of each country's profile. The icons were designed using a 48x48 grid system, further unifying the whole identity system.
From the symbol we can generate a system of abstract patterns, these patterns represent threads intertwining with tension and embody the belief that true change can only happen through collaboration and tough but necessary dialogue.
