“Grab Community: Custom Typeface as a Brand-Building Tool” from BITS10 is now on YouTube!
In this group discussion panel, our type director Sovichet Tep, the designer responsible for Grab Community Khmer; Carina Teo, the Head of Creative at Grab; Tan Sueh Li of hrftype, the designer responsible for Grab Community Latin and Vietnamese, and moderator Anuthin Wongsunkakon of Cadson Demak, came together to have conversations about the thought process behind Grab's rebranding, the creation of the Grab Community typeface, and the process of localizing them into many other Southeast Asian scripts such as Thai, Khmer, and Burmese. Designing A Brand Identity That Actually Slaps: Slaphouse
Slaphouse is a dynamic and emerging record label in Cambodia, featuring talented artists like Kwan, Maifern, Vito, M-Fatt, Mann Doss, and others. By pushing the boundaries of the Khmer sound, Slaphouse artists have achieved great success, amassing millions of views. We're thrilled to have worked with Slaphouse on the design of their brand identity, capturing their distinct, high-energy, and unapologetic spirit. Additionally, we worked with Sokai Yoon, a Khmer-American designer from Atlanta on the photography and art direction of Slaphouse's artist photoshoot.
